There’s always Hope

When someone seeks an injunction, or restraining order, they are asking the court for protection from violence, harassment, or stalking. If you’ve successfully obtained an injunction, you know the judge’s signed order outlines your protections. But what happens if the person you’re protected from violates the injunction, or you see them in public? You’d likely call the police to report the violation—but what if you don’t have your paperwork on you? After all, who carries court documents everywhere they go?

Here’s the good news: as of October 1, 2024, Florida launched the Hope Card Program under Fla. Stat. 741.311. This innovative program allows individuals who have been granted a final injunction for protection against domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, repeat violence, or sexual violence to request a free Hope Card from the clerk of the court in the circuit where the injunction was issued.

The Hope Card is a wallet-sized or digital card designed for convenience and peace of mind. It includes critical information such as:

  • The respondent’s name and date of birth.
  • The petitioner’s name and date of birth.
  • Details about the issuing court, case number, and the order’s issuance and expiration dates.
  • The phone number for the statewide domestic violence hotline.

Hope Cards are valid for two years or the duration of your injunction, whichever is shorter, and they can be renewed if needed.

If you or a loved one needs to file for an injunction or already have one and want assistance obtaining your Hope Card, Fighter Law is here to help. Don’t navigate this process alone—call Fighter Law at (407) 344-4837 today. Our experienced attorneys are ready to fight for your safety and peace of mind because We Fight Because We Care.
