Miami Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Drugs

A 40-year-old Miami man was sentenced to 10 years in prison upon his conviction of drug charges stemming from his alleged involvement in a cocaine distribution ring. The man was accused of supplying 4 kilograms of cocaine to an Orlando dealer for distribution. The two allegedly met at a home in Miami Gardens where the suspect handed over the cocaine with a promise from the dealer that he would be paid $120,000 upon sale of the drug.

However, federal agents intercepted the dealer on his way to Orlando. Eventually, charges were brought against the suspect for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances in an amount over 500 grams. The suspect was convicted earlier in the year and was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his alleged role in the scheme.

Many large drug cases are handled by joint investigations with cooperation between agencies. In this case, federal agents from the United States Drug Enforcement Agency were involved in the investigation and eventual arrest of the suspects involved.

In such a large drug investigation, it is sometimes difficult for the authorities to determine exactly who was responsible for certain aspects of the distribution or sale of the drugs. In many cases, prosecutors charge everyone involved and then begin the process of negotiating pleas based on the amount of evidence they have against individuals.
