At our law firm in downtown Orlando, we’re here to help you navigate this challenging time with the guidance and support you need.

Whether your divorce is uncontested or involves complex issues like child custody or property division, we have the experience to provide trusted legal advice and representation.

Experienced and Trusted Orlando Family Law Attorneys

Our lead attorney, Mary Zogg, is Board Certified in family law, a distinction held by only a small percentage of attorneys in Florida. This certification demonstrates her extensive knowledge and expertise in handling even the most challenging family law cases. Attorneys Thomas Feiter and Jessica Travis bring many years of experience in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division.

Since our law firm was established in 2011, we’ve grown to over 20 full-time employees who are dedicated to providing top-notch legal services. With hundreds of five-star Google reviews, our clients know they can count on us to provide compassionate, effective representation for their family law matters.

Helping Families With and Without Children

Divorces involving children can be especially complicated. Decisions about child custody, visitation schedules, and child support have a long-term impact on your family’s future. As experienced child custody attorneys, we understand how important it is to protect your relationship with your children while ensuring their best interests are prioritized.

For divorces without children, the focus often shifts to issues like property division and spousal support. Florida law requires an equitable distribution of marital assets, but this doesn’t always mean a 50/50 split. Our team will work diligently to ensure your financial interests are protected.

No matter your circumstances, we’ll help you navigate the legal process with clear communication and reliable advice every step of the way.

Personalized Attention and Convenient Location

We understand that every divorce case is unique. That’s why our team takes the time to understand your specific situation and goals. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we’ll create a legal strategy tailored to your needs, whether you’re negotiating an amicable settlement or preparing for court.

Our office is conveniently located in downtown Orlando, and we offer free on-site parking for our clients. We know how stressful it can be to drive around looking for a parking space, especially when you’re already dealing with a difficult situation. From the moment you walk through our doors, we aim to make your experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

What Are the Grounds for Divorce in Florida?

One of the most common areas of family law is divorce, but the process can be extensive and complicated. Our lawyers can help you understand all aspects of your unique case, including Florida’s grounds for divorce. Florida is a no-fault divorce state, which means couples do not need to experience an event like adultery or violence to get a divorce. According to state law, the only grounds Orlando couples need to get a divorce include the following:

Irretrievably Broken

Most Florida marriages dissolve because the relationship is irretrievably broken. This means the spouses cannot get along or maintain their marriage. One or both spouses must present evidence that the relationship cannot be fixed for a judge to grant the divorce. If the couple has children that are minors, one of the spouses contests the divorce, or the judge decides the relationship can be sustained, the divorce may not be granted.

Mental Illness

According to Florida law, mental illness can be the basis for a divorce if the following criteria are established:

  • The person you make a claim against has been considered mentally incapacitated for at least three years before you file the claim.
  • A court-appointed committee agrees that the individual is mentally incapacitated.
  • You send a notice of the divorce to your ex-spouse’s closest relative or guardian.

If the mentally incapacitated individual does not have a guardian, the court will appoint one for the proceedings.
